Lauren Farruggia

pronouns: she/her

affinity groups: Maryland native, wife, sister, dog mom, horse girl, cycling enthusiast, musician, drug/device attorney, criminal justice reform advocate, home cook, nature lover.

what yoga means to me: I came to yoga by accident during a period of high stress and intense self doubt – and I’m so glad that I did! Yoga allowed me, for the first time, to pause and be fully present with myself, and to cultivate an inner strength that I didn’t know I had. Over time, yoga has become a crucial tool to help manage a history of anxiety and body dysmorphia. I trust that yoga can inspire even the most skeptical student to find inner confidence, power, joy, and gratitude.

About my classes:

  • Sunday Morning Flow: This all-levels class is fast-paced, incorporating Power- and/or Rocket-inspired asana sequences together for a challenging, playful weekend wake up. Although students will have the opportunity to practice arm balances and inversions, students are encouraged to listen to their bodies and take variations that serve them in the moment. This class ends with longer holds in more restorative postures to offer students a period of mindfulness and introspection. As an all-levels class, it is appropriate for beginner, intermediate, and advanced students.

what yoga means to me: Yoga has taught me and continues to teach me many lessons. Patience, gratitude, reflection, balance, acceptance, equity. Through yoga I’ve developed a greater understanding of myself, stronger connection to others, and a deeper connection with my faith. It has changed my outlook and the ways in which I navigate life.

About my classes:

  • Flow Yoga 1-2 with Meditation: Similar to our life journey’s, this flow class moves from one pose to the next in dynamic ways. Often inspired by themes, students have the opportunity to use as a source of focus and for personal reflection. The beginning and end of class are opportunities for guided meditation to support transition into mindfulness. As a level 1-2 class, it is appropriate for beginner and intermediate students.

pronouns: she/her

affinity groups: east coast native, CA (Bay Area) transplant, education advocate, racial equity ally, hiking and nature enthusiast, musical theatre lover, singer, performer

what yoga means to me: Yoga invigorates me with a sense of possibility, and it has consistently gifted me that feeling, even through the hardest and most uncertain transitions in my life. I came to yoga as a student first, fully questioning whether it could be ‘for me’. Thanks to incredible teachers and mentors, I found my groove on my mat and found my way to teacher training. It is a privilege to offer classes as an instructor now, but truthfully I come to class more so as a forever student, interested in discovering the limitless power of yoga together. I can’t wait to learn and flow with you.

About my classes:

  • Yoga Sculpt: This intermediate class is fast moving and will get your heart pumping and your breath flowing. Rooted in a power vinyasa style, we’ll focus on connecting breath to movement as we move together through our sequence. Note that I do utilize music in my classes – in case that is or isn’t your jam 🙂 Though I’d typically offer free weights as an option if teaching in a studio, I want to make sure everyone can access this class from home, safely and without the need for any additional props. So instead we’ll leverage body weight and cardio to intensify each yoga pose while mixing in strength-training moves like squats, lunges and push-ups.
